Children can benefit from doing their homework in a quiet area, without distractions, where they can be comfortable and productive. You can help your child with their homework by dedicating a space that can be kept clean, organized, and large enough to work and that is away from the household traffic.

Here are some tips to create a homework haven for your child:

  • -Start early. There’s a greater chance of learning more and performing at a higher level if your child learns good habits right away. It’s never too early to start teaching those skills.
  • -Teach by example. Show your child your own workspace and teach them how to maintain one similar. A quiet and well-organized place to work and get tasks done. You can keep all non-work related electronics out, including televisions, phones, conversations and other distractions. Education.com suggests renovating a closet or build a nook where your child can escape from noise and maintain focus. You can coordinate your bill paying, reading or other non-distracting activities with homework time.
  • -Get organized. An unorganized desk leads to productivity loss and wasted work time. To keep your child’s desk clean, make sure everything has its own place. File papers and notebooks. Keep the items used most frequently readily available.
  • -A comfortable seat. A chair with an adjustable height will keep your child studying without worrying… and without ache.
